Chapter 2.

Field of Combat.

The field of combat covers the whole of Belgium, Southern Holland, part of France and part of Germany. It includes a wide range of geographical features, like plains, hills, forests and rivers, which made the environment a deciding factor in the battles fought there.

The Scenarios.

These are sections of, or the whole of the Field of Combat. Every scenario has an offensive and a defensive army, which will play for the possession of the illuminated area of the field. The scenarios also have a limited time period. It can be days or weeks for the big scenarios.
When this period of time is over, the victor is established and also the conditions of the victory.
Regarding the different types of scenario, we can have:
small scenarios, mainly dedicated to learning how to play the game; medium scenarios, with several days in length, with a playing time of between an hour and a half and three hours. And finally, the big scenarios, allowing the player ten hours or more of game time, depending on the game speed setup that the player establishes at the beginning of the game.

Conditions of Victory.

The Victory consists of defeating an enemy army on a combat field by getting a specific amount of points in each scenario. All the scenarios have a single points meter. The Offensive army will add points, while the Defensive one will take them away.

Two different ways to gain points:

By occupying certain villages; at the beginning of the game, nearly every village offers some victory points when occupied by the enemy army.
By eliminating enemy units; at the end of the established time in the scenario, the total sum of points compared with a particular scenario’s table of points, will give the victory to one of the two sides.
